Fun Facts

Over the summer I read 25 books, mostly fiction. I found that once I picked up a book I couldn't put it down until I'd finished it; I never left home without a paperback. My top 3 favorite books were Speaker For The Dead, by orson Scott Card, 100 Years of Solitude, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and This Side Of Paradise, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Currently, I'm reading Infinite Jest, by David Foster Wallace, and 1Q84, by Haruki Murakami. I only just invested in a Kindle, but better late than never.

About Me

I am at Junior majoring in English and double minoring in French and Philosophy, at Baruch College. I'm a Dean Scholar, have maintained over a 3.5 GPA all three years of college, and am a member of Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity. I currently work part time at a restaurant, The Water Club, and take kick boxing classes at Tiger Schulmanns by my school. I'm incredibly passionate about everything I do, and have maintained my momentum throughout the semester. It isn't work if you'er having fun!

Experience

During the last two years of HS, I was a member of the volunteer program, High School Heroes. I led a kindergarten and third grade classroom during regular school hours, and it was through this program that I found my passion for teaching.
I also tutored a high school Junior during my Freshman year in college. I helped him divide and conquer his homework, edit his essays, and stay on top of future assignments. Over the course of the semester his teachers and parents noted remarkable improvements

Approach

I want my students to embrace their fear of being wrong because it’s the most effective way to learn. When we expect to write a spotless first draft, or raise our hands only when we're guaranteed a right answer, it holds us back from honestly speaking our minds. I want my students to think of mistakes as building blocks rather than mirrors, and measure their progress by taking the good with the bad. Passion in their craft, confidence in their voice, and a concentrated focus, follow suit.

AP English Tutoring

Ap English was what catapulted me into my English major, it was when I knew this was truly my calling. Reading and writing skills last a lifetime, but cultivating them is paramount--especially with College applications around the corner.

Homework Coach Tutoring

I know the skills high schoolers need to get ahead in their classes--and planning your days out isn't something just reserved for classes: how you organize your time seriously impacts your efficiency, and stress levels. I want my students to start and end every session with a look at their planner, not just to mark their progress, but to not lose sight of everything else that they have to do.

Writing Advance Tutoring

Writing, specifically free writing, is the most important skill to develop over your time in college. It frees up you mind, helps you verbalize otherwise unspoken opinions, and has great therapeutic benefits. Before I start an essay, I normally free write for thirty minutes to get all my ideas on paper.

Reading Comprehension Tutoring

Reading is more than my bread and butter, it's my life support. I've had a superb understanding of the texts we're currently reading in class (Which range from Chaucer to Edith Warton) and these skills have translated to every other text i've read.

Study Skills Tutoring

I stay focused, make time, and know how to prioritize my responsibilities as both a student, Fraternity brother, restaurant worker, and Kickboxer in training, without feeling overwhelmed.
It isn't work if you're having fun!
