• I attended DeKalb School of the Arts (DSA) for grades 8-12. There I dabbled in various fine arts concentrations such as vocal music, musical theater, creative writing, digital multimedia design, dance, and drama.
• I love musicals! At DSA, I performed in four spring musicals: “Seussical the Musical,” “The Mikado,” “Sweeney Todd,” and “Cinderella.” My favorite musical of all time is “West Side Story.”

About Me

Born and raised in Georgia, I am the first 1st-generation American in my entire family. I was born shortly after my family emigrated to the U.S. from Vietnam. I am a rising senior at Georgia State University, majoring in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in grades Pre-K to 5 with an ESOL endorsement. I love to smile, laugh, and have fun with family and friends. I am a dog-lover and I am the type of person who will stay up the entire night caught up in a book.

My first atlanta">tutoring experience began when I was in middle school. I tutored a family friend’s son for several years who struggled academically due to a language barrier. I helped see him through to high school where he is now fluent in English and doing well in school without my help. In high school, I tutored my peers via Beta Club. I mostly helped students struggling in high school math and Latin. For the past year, I have worked at a Kumon Math and Reading Center where I work with a variety of students individually, ranging from 3-year-olds to high school students, on reading and math concepts.

I believe that atlanta">tutoring and mentoring is a collaborative effort that involves the learner. I like to get to know my students to tailor lessons to them individually while also creating a welcoming and comfortable learning environment. Every student I atlanta">tutor is unique and has different strengths and areas for growth. I like to involve students by having them set their own goals and then helping them devise an action plan to help them reach their goals. My instruction and lessons will vary depending on my students’ prior knowledge, culture, needs, and learning styles.
