At my undergraduate college, I made the Dean's List three times and became a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, the first year academic honors society.

I believe that the goal of a tutor is not to just give the student the correct answer but should be to help the student obtain the necessary tools to understand the material. Sometimes this means using a variety of approaches, giving examples, finding other ways of explaining concepts, etc. The most important step is making the student comfortable and creating a safe space where they feel they can take academic chances and make mistakes in order to learn.
