Fun Facts
Something very interesting about me is that I love to dance. My mother is an extremely well dancer, and she taught me how to salsa, merengue, and cumbia at all the family parties. Also, I am a first generation university student and I am the first one out of my whole extended family to attend college and pursue higher education. Currently, my hobbies include watching all my favorite movies that I have not had a chance to watch during college, and looking up healthy recipes to cook for my family.
About Me
I graduated from the University of California - Riverside (UCR) with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. Shortly after graduating from UCR, I took time off from school, and I was tutoring three children in elementary school Mathematics, English, and Science through Care.com. This past year I participated in the UCSF Interprofessional Heatlh Post Baccalaurete, and I am currently applying to medical school in order to pursue a career that will help alleviate the health disparities in my community.
Experience
I was a private tutor for three children ranging in age from eight to ten. I worked with them on elementary school English, Mathematics, and Science. It was satisfying to find drastic improvements in all of their coursework; I felt good about priming the next generation of students. This experience taught me how to serve as a facilitator, provide academic support for content and concept understanding, and help my students refine study skills and become independent learners.
Approach
As the oldest of three daughters, I served as my younger sisters' personal tutor. I always enjoyed attending school and learning new subjects, and being able to support, encourage, and teach my sisters as they began their educational journey; this taught me that I do enjoy helping others achieve academic success. My tutoring approach varies as I understand that students have different learning styles and as a tutor I must adapt my teaching style to a manner that best suits my students.

I have taken and excelled in my Anatomy and Physiology courses at the University of California- Berkeley. I completed each course with an A plus, and I am currently working as a medical scribe for an orthopedic hand surgeon that frequently utilizes my Anatomy and Physiology skills. In addition, I have taken and excelled in the Medical College Admissions Test and know of current resources that will enrich the student's learning experience. As an Anatomy and Physiology tutor, I like to bring the material from the textbook and relate it to the context of the current medical field.

Currently, I am tutoring a student that is trying to enter the Army as infantry. The subjects I focus on are the Mathematics and English portions of the standardized test. The level of difficulty is comparable to that of high school English and Math, and I am extremely comfortable teaching these subject matters to others with confidence.

I have extensive experience and comfort in tutoring advanced biological sciences such as Biochemistry. I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biology, and have taken advanced Biochemistry where I completed the course with a strong A.
