I love gardening (I adore farmers' markets), cooking, and am in love with tea of all kinds! My love for history and politics has me in love with graphic novels that use the medium for journalism-- especially books like Safe Area Gorazde by Joe Sacco.

About Me

I'm a rising junior at maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">columbia-university">maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia University. I am studying Political Science and American Studies. I currently have internships in the city with non-profit advocacy organizations. Born and raised in Portland, Maine, I'm still getting used to all of the cultural opportunities in New York.

I have tutored at all levels. I currently volunteer weekly tutoring an elementary school student in reading, writing, and mathematics through One to One tutoring at maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia. I also have experience tutoring high school students in all subject areas.

It's important for me that I tailor my tutoring style to the learning styles and age of my tutee. Whether that means using physical objects to explain math concepts to third graders, or using snarky commentary to make AP History memorable, I make sure I engage the skills that my tutee brings with them already. I construct tutoring sessions so that they stay interesting and build on past material in order to create meaningful progress -- in the classroom or with test results.
