Fun Facts

One of my favorite things to do is workout! In my spare time, you can always find me expending some extra energy running with my dog, doing crunches in the gym, or trekking along on a hike with friends. I get so much inspiration from moving around and being outside; it helps me feel alive. I also love music and cannot go a day without listening to it, playing it, or even thinking about it.

About Me

I am a high school English teacher with four years of experience in the classroom. I have taught all grade levels and multiple ability levels. I specialize in novel studies and poetry.

Experience

In high school, I was a member of the National Honor Society. I had the opportunity to tutor several elementary age schoolchildren. When I started college, I tutored classmates and worked in the tutoring center part time. I have worked in public schools in NC and AK for the last four years. I am comfortable teaching in person and virtually.

Approach

As a child, I always loved to read. School was fun and there was never a time that I didn't want to learn. Ultimately, I think it was my parents that influenced me to learn like this. In turn, I want to bring this attitude to my tutoring sessions. Encouragement and positivity can go along way to serve as motivation. I also am very open-minded, so I am willing to make compromises - there is more than one way to learn something.
