About Me
I just completed my junior year at Fordham University. I am majoring in Public Accounting, with a concentration in both finance and marketing. I was a Dean's list honoree. I will graduate in May 2014 with 150 credits, and I plan on taking the CPA exam in the fall of 2014. I am a member of the varsity soccer team at Fordham University, which is a division 1 program. I have started in every game since freshmen year as either a central defender or midfielder. I have been on the Atlantic 10 Honor Roll, and I was invited to the Breakfast of Champions for each of my past three season. These awards honor student athletes who maintain a certain GPA while competing in their sports season. I am also a member of Beta Alpha Psi.
I have tutored individuals at various different ages. I have tutored my younger brother, as well as my younger cousins in middle school and high school. I have also tutored various classmates in high school and college. Some of these classmates I tutored regularly throughout the semester, while others I just tutored before a midterm or final. I specialize in tutoring subjects related to mathematics, such as algebra, calculus, and accounting.
In order to have students learn I feel that the best to tutor is to first go over the rules behind the theories that I am teaching. Then I feel that is effective to go through examples of the types of problems being taught, so that I can see where the students are having trouble. Then, I focus on the specific areas that the student is having trouble. I feel that learning by example is the most effective way to understand a concept because you see how you will be tested on a problem and are more likely to understand it by actually seeing what is happening.
