Fun Facts

I was born and raised in Queens, New York, love the city life and the opportunities that it has to offer. My family and I are native to Colombia and I love learning about different cultures that I encounter in Queens' unprecedented diversity. With that being said, I LOVE playing and following soccer (especially the FIFA World Cup), and I am fluent in Spanish.

About Me

I am in my third year at CUNY Hunter College double majoring in History and Childhood Education. Once graduate from these Bachelor's programs, I look to pursue a Master's in educational psychology and/or school administration. My career goal is to eventually become an Elementary school teacher with the New York City Department of Education.

Experience

I've had the pleasure of working with children in a variety of contexts and settings. Firstly, as a Catechist at my local church, I had the chance to teach my very own class about their religious faith. I also worked as a senior camp counselor, ensuring my children's well-being and active participation in the summer fun! More recently, I was a student teacher at Mosaic Preparatory Academy, as part of my childhood education program at Hunter College.

Approach

As a kid, I found it difficult to stay engaged and invested in my own learning until, by chance (or by luck), I encountered very nurturing, supportive teachers that instilled in me the motivation I needed to succeed in school and the passion I still have today about learning new things. I look to instill these same values in the students I work with in the hope that they realize their fullest potential to succeed in and out of the classroom, and become owners of their own education!

I took a college course as part of my education program named Developmental Reading. As part of this class, I had to examine a child's reading difficulties and analyze my findings in a child case study. Spanish Tutoring

I am fluent in Spanish, in writing, speaking, and reading the language, as my family and I are native to Colombia.
