Fun Facts

In my free time I like to play sports, be outside, watch movies, and be with my friends and family. I like to read books when I have free time and I am an Golden Apple Scholar.I think it is a fun fact that I have never been on a plane before. I also love watching hockey, especially the Chicago Blackhawks!

About Me

My name is Tricia LeGrand and I am studying math education at DePaul. I am just finishing up my first year here and I have had an experience. While at DePaul I have been involved in Delta Gamma Fraternity and worked for Jumpstart.Academically, I work hard in school. I have standards to get A's. I believe my academic success will allow me to be successful in my future. I always have to study even if I feel that I know the material.

I have tutored my friends in their studies of math as well as interned in a 6th grade math classroom. I helped students individually with their math questions and explained the steps. I even taught one of the lessons to the students. I have also interned in a second grade classroom, where I helped students in a variety of subjects.This summer I will be interning in a high school geometry class.

I believe that my chicago">tutoring approach is to first figure out what concept the student is struggling with. From there, I would like the student to explain or do the problem that they are struggling with. I will watch what they are doing and we together can figure out what the correct steps are. From there, we can do practice problems and even do some of the same problems the student was struggling with. I believe this will help the student understand where they are making their mistakes. If needed the student and I can make a how to do this problem sheet with the steps listed out, therefore, the student can look back at the sheet for help. We can then talk about how they feel about the concepts and what else they need to do or improve on.
