Fun Facts

Though I couldn't draw a stick figure if I wanted to, I love animation; I would love writing a screenplay for an animated movie or television show someday. I may begin my writing career electronically instead of in print, writing e-books that will challenge the public's perception of what a story should be in this new, technologically saturated world. Lastly, I am currently teaching myself how to play guitar, though my progress is relative and depends on the opinion of the listener.

About Me

I'm your typical hard-working, commuting college sophmore; I stay up late to finish assignments, ride the train for an hour to make it to class early every morning, drink about 20 cups of coffee a day, and track my grades morning, noon, and night. My plans for the future, as I've already stated, are to become an author and screenwriter. I would like to work as a freelance editor and writer on the side as well, because a girl has to make money when she chooses such high risk career choices.

Unfortunately, I do not have any formal chicago">tutoring experience prior to applying to this organization. This would be my first time helping younger students to excel academically for personal gain, but not the first time helping others with their homework. Informally, I have tutored my peers in English and Math classes for the majority of my middle and high school years.With this in mind, I feel I am ready to embark on something not entirely new to me, but just as rewarding.

I want to encourage my pupils to do the very best they can in any academic situation, not just how to differentiate between adverbs and adjectives. While such skills are important for succeeding in secondary and/or post-secondary institutions later in life, I want to express the long-term benefits of what I'm teaching them with each and every lesson. For this reason, my lesson plans would start with the skills themselves, and end with me connecting the skills to their lives with as much relevancy as the student will allow. If the student understands the usefulness of knowledge in regards to their own present lives and future goals, I feel that the information will stick properly.
