Fun Facts
I love to learn new things and skills! TEACHING, Volleyball, and Chemistry are my primary passions in life. I do them all on a weekly basis and would never pass on the chance to do them, and/or help other people learn them.
About Me
I am a senior Biochemistry Major at the University of Texas at Arlington and was a member of the Honors College from 2010-2011. I am planning to pursue a Master in Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and teach in the high school level and/or junior college level.
I am also a Certified Pharmacy Technician and has been licensed in Texas for the past seven years. My career history is a unique combination of teaching, manufacturing, chemical industry, compliance, and fitness.
Experience
I was honorably recommended by Dr. Jimmy Rogers to the Lab Coordinator to teach as a Laboratory Teaching Assistant and have been teaching for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UT Arlington for a total of three semesters for freshman chemistry and engineering chemistry courses in 2011.
I also work for the CHEM Clinic, a drop-in tutoring service offered by the Department, free of charge, for ALL students taking chemistry at UT Arlington.
Approach
I help remind the students of the simpler concepts that define more complicated ones in order to establish a smooth, logical flow of learning that leads to tenacious concept understanding.
I begin to tutor/help students by initially asking how they understand how to solve the problem and ask them to explain their thought in doing so. This allows me to catch the students where their mental processing falters and supplement their own personal thinking mechanism.
