Fun Facts
I am probably the biggest bookworm you will find. When I'm not at work, my head is in a book. I am also a huge fan of puns so just bare with me and my corny puns (I promise not all of them are corny). I am a native of Charlotte (yes we are still in existence).
About Me
I am in my second year as a College Adviser at Phillip O. Berry Academy. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May of 2015 with a degree in Political Science and a Minor in African and African American Diaspora Studies. I plan on going back to school to pursue a Master's Degree in Library Sciences (yes, I love books that much).
Experience
I have been tutoring (unofficially) since I was a sophomore in high school, working with children of my mom's coworkers. I continued to tutor when I got to college as a middle school mentor/tutor in the Chapel Hill area with an organization at school. When I graduated and returned to Charlotte, I continued working as a volunteer tutor at my church on Saturday's (which I still do) working with elementary and high school students.
Approach
Over the years, I have learned that I am a visual learner and understand things better when I can draw it out or see it drawn out. What I try to do as a tutor, is help students figure out the best way that they learn so we can work together to help them find the best way to study and retain whatever the material is for themselves. I believe in showing you that you can create your own map, rather than just showing you how to get there.

Political Science
College Algebra Tutoring
I have always been good at math, I just did not need it for my major. Much of the tutoring I currently do is math ranging from elementary school to high school level Math 3. I had already take geometry by 8th grade and reached Calculus by my senior year in high school after completing both levels of I.B. Math. I also took two college math courses and received a B+ and an A.
Education Tutoring
I took three Education classes while in college covring Children's Literature, how children learn to/the teaching of reading and writing, and Peer leadership in the university environment. I am also currently in the second year working in education as a College Adviser for a college access organization.
English Tutoring
I developed a love for writing when I regained my love for books while in college. I currently work with some of the students I advise on their essays for college and do some creative writing in my free time.
History Tutoring
My minor in college was African American Studies and many of my classes were history based. I also took some history and geography classes as well. I am also a huge history nerd so I watch a lot of historical documentaries in my free time.

Political Science was my major and I took a wide variety of classes covering contemporary Latin American politics, Analyzing Public Opinion, Race & Politics, Urban Politics, International Politics, Mass Media & Politics, and African American Politics.

Some of the students at the high school I currently work at are Spanish speakers so I my level of comprehension is still growing.
