Fun Facts
A fun fact about myself is that I am always seeking out hiking trails with postcard worthy views of mountains, cliffs, and blue waters. A highlight from my adventures in nature includes kayaking down the Chicago river. I hope to one day visit Yosemite National Park. I am also a yoga fanatic that enjoys mixing yoga with cardio, weights, and loud music. I love learning about religions and delighting in the joys of chocolate and coffee.
About Me
I am a high school English teacher with experience teaching freshmen literature and composition, ESL, and media literacy in some of the top high schools in the state of Illinois. With a Master of Arts in teaching, I have conducted teacher action research on self-directed learning and academic achievement in the English language arts classroom. My goal is to work in teaching adminnistration and ultimately teach literature at the college level.
Experience
As a high school English teacher, I help students overcome academic challenges by building strong foundations of trust with students, meeting students at their specific level of performance, and constantly seeking out the most fitting resources for my students. My previous work as an SAT tutor will allow me to guide students with study skills and strategies that will be useful in all classes. Through frog tutoring, I look forward to guiding students in both their academic and personal growth!
Approach
I recognize that students are dynamic and complex individuals with various existing skills, attitudes, and experiences rather than empty vessels that ought to be filled with information. For this reason, I apply a tailored approach in which students have the autonomy and structure to think critically and construct meaning. In my tutoring sessions, I hope to keep students engaged and actively participating through a hands on, student-centered approach.
