Fun Facts
I love Football and it occupies most of my free time. When I am not studying History or hanging out with my friends I am constantly watching, reading about and playing Football. I have been playing for 6 years now, 4 in High School and 2 for the new Loyola Chicago Ramblers, a club team that is now returning after a "brief" 40 year hiatus. This upcoming season, I will be playing center and defensive end.
About Me
I am passionate about History and learning. I currently am a Junior at chicago">Loyola University Chicago where I am majoring in History and Anthropology/Sociology (the latter is a combined major). Furthermore I am also a Provost Fellow at Loyola Chicago, studying, with the guidance of a mentor, the sleep patterns of the ancient Romans and Greeks. During the year I compete for Loyola's newly created Club Football team, also occupying a position on the board, which helps allocate funds and guide the team. I enjoy helping students reach their potential and learning along with them. I am self motivated and like the challenge of new material. My aspirations for after college are either to pursue a Ph.D in History or study law.
In High School, seniors were given a month off (January) to do community service. Instead of attending classes we reported to our service site and worked 120 hours between 3 to 4 weeks. In this time i volunteered at a elementary school in Eagle Rock, California. There I often tutored 7 and 8th graders in many subjects, my forte being History. I have not tutored High School students before, however, i am interested in doing so.
I think the most difficult part of chicago">tutoring is when the chicago">tutor themselves lose patience. Students often times simply need more time with the material, so a careful examination of the material can often illicit positive responses. Furthermore, I believe that enthusiasm for the the material and learning can be the best way to motivate students and help them achieve their goal. This kind of approach was especially helpful for me, as I struggled with reading and writing as a young elementary school student. In High School, my passionate AP World History and US History teacher motivated and inspired me to pursue History in college. Today, because of the influence of my previous chicago">tutors and teachers, I have a strong base to build my current studies on.
