Fun Facts
My obsession for dinosaurs as a 22 year old girl is probably my friends' favorite thing about me. Think of a dinosaur-shaped object or dinosaur printed clothing and I've got it! That includes a ceramic stegosaurus planter. My friends and I also love to go country line dancing and swing dancing on a weekly basis.
About Me
I am a college graduate from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego with a degree in Biology and a french minor. I currently live and work in Denver at a children's hospital as a phlebotomist. I absolutely love learning and love working with kids of all ages. I ultimately hope to go to graduate school and work towards furthering myself in the health field.
Experience
Throughout high school and college I have lead many tutoring sessions with peers. In college, I had the opportunity to extend that to students in need in the San Diego community.
Approach
Throughout college my professors always told me that you truly understood a concept when you could explain it to a peer. To achieve this level of understanding I think that each individual has a style of learning that best applies to them. It is important that a student is not simply listening to a concept being taught but also engaging by asking questions and repeating.

Anatomy Physiology I Tutoring
I have successfully completed two years of anatomy and physiology type courses throughout college. One course covered basic vertebrate physiology focusing mostly on humans. The other course was strictly human anatomy and physiology and included a laboratory portion that gave us a real, visual learning experience.

In my college experience biology majors studied a wide variety of science courses. This included a few environmental science courses. Being in San Diego with such diversity, we also experienced a lot of hands-on classwork at tide pools near the ocean and desert areas.

I graduated college with a french minor, but was only unable to complete a french major because it required a semester abroad that I could not complete while also trying to obtain a degree in biology. Many of my french courses included basic reading, writing and speaking. I studied a lot of grammar, culture, literature and french films in my courses as well. Most of my tutoring experience is french mostly at basic levels of french.

Homework Coach Tutoring
Having succeeded at 16 years of schooling from kindergarten through college, I have developed great time management, homework and study skills. I think positive encouragement, engaged learning and adapting to a specific learning style are crucial elements to understanding a topic.
Science Tutoring
I have obtained a degree in biology at a four year university studying a large variety of topics including chemistry, psychology, anatomy, physiology, environmental science, experimental methods, and other sub-topics in science. I have a lot of hands-on experience through labs and working in positions in research. Throughout college I spent a lot of time tutoring in many different aspects of science.
Study Skills Tutoring
Having succeeded at 16 years of schooling from kindergarten through college, I have developed great time management, homework and study skills. I think positive encouragement, engaged learning and adapting to a specific learning style are crucial elements to understanding a topic. I have helped peers learn to use a variety of study methods including flashcards, concept maps, and more.
English Tutoring
Having completed a college degree I have a lot of experience with basic topics such as grammar, spelling, vocabulary and more. My degree in french has also given me an even more detailed concept of english when comparing things such as grammar and vocabulary.
Elementary Math Tutoring
I have tutored some math to younger students including basic math, trigonometry and algebra. I have succeeded at many math courses I have taken through my schooling ranging from basic math all the way up through calculus.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
Teaching reading requires a lot of patience, which I have in abundance. I have taught reading with younger children, those with disabilities, and children who were lacking on their english speaking abilities.
