Fun Facts
I really love board games, especially games with the fewest number of rules. I have eleven toenails, due to a run-in with an axe during my time on the Appalachian Trail in summer of 2012. I am a redhead, and I firmly believe that all redheads have souls.
About Me
I graduated in May 2013 from Tufts University with a B.S. in Mathematics. At this point in life, I am trying to balance the combined forces of pursuing a math and science/massachusetts/boston">computer science education with a desire to live outside and with few possessions. I am currently a sea kayak guide in Prince William Sound in southern Alaska, and have spent time working on the Appalachian Trail in New Hampshire, and have taken an outdoor leadership course in Patagonia.
In high school, I helped a family friend with her math homework for about a semester during my senior year. Upon moving to Boston to go to school, I branched out from doing solely math and pursued my other interests during my first three years. My last year, I was an Intro to science/massachusetts/boston">Computer Science TA and helped students tackle their lab and homework assignments.
I always try to relate the material to the student's life. In math especially, it's often hard to see an application of abstract concepts. I really enjoy using diagrams, drawing pictures, and helping students to visualize the question before formulating an answer, instead of just looking at a collection of numbers.
