Fun Facts
I'm obsessed with marching band! It's been a family activity now for many generations and it's a huge passion of mine. I've played flute now for ten years and still play casually with a local ensemble. I'm also an amateur photographer that mostly specializes in landscape and portraits! I've been growing into quite the fitness junkie too and I love every second!
About Me
I'm currently a junior at IUPUI and will be soon graduation with a bachelors in Secondary English Education. I'm also employed as a gallery guide at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. I have a passion for awakening the creative potential in kids and I'm so excited to finally be in my own classroom! I actually started out as a Media Arts and Science major at IUPUI before I realized my calling for teaching. I hope to merge my love for art and education when I go back for my Masters Degree.
Right now I am doing my Block 1 student interning at Arsenal Tech High School in central Indianapolis. Here, I am working with small groups of students to develop helpful test-taking skills and reading comprehension skills. I've also worked with the Ben Davis Avid program where I have lead small study table groups in subjects such as Algebra, Pre-Cal, and Chemistry. The program is heavily based in Socratic Seminar which is a personal favorite of mine that show in my teaching a tutoring style.
My teaching style is based largely on a small group tutoring style. I believe that individual success comes in many different forms but I also believe that hard work and dedication pays off. Good habits are tough to form, but once they are formed they produce productive and accomplished students. I focus largely on the needs of the student and the knowledge they already have to build upon new or challenging concepts.
Experience
In my first year of college I volunteered with Junior Achievement and taught a group of fourth grades at an IPS school the basic fundamentals of Economics. From there, I began substitute teaching for MSD of Warren Township and have continued to love every second! I've also volunteered hours at Ben Davis High school as an AVID tutor for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. I'm also about to begin interning for Arsenel Tech High School in their English Department with a mentor teacher.
Approach
While I excelled in school, it was frequently at the cost of my mental health. As a tutor and future teacher, I hope to inspire a love for learning and creativity across many subjects. The tactics I learned with AVID will be present in my tutoring. In leading students to answers with constructive questions, I feel learning is more meaningful and productive.

Homeowork coaching, I believe, goes hand-in-hand with study skills. Its about being organized and planning out what days you need to do what assignments to ensure you're not stressed out during the weekend.
Setting goals is my best tool for homework help.
Pre Calculus Tutoring
College Alegebra 1&2: Recieved and A in both class. Both were very challenging but focused largely on pre-cal principals. I enjoyed these classes very much despite them being a challenge. We focused largely on functions of sin, cos, and tangent. We also did a lot of work with Hyperbolas, Ellipse, and Parabolas.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
AP English 11 & 12:
We read many classics in both classes. AP English 11 focused largely on writing detailed literature analysis essays that required close reading. AP English 12 looked a bit closer at textual evidence for reading comprehension and then essays that showed these skills. I received a B+ in English 12 and an A in English 11.
Study Skills Tutoring
I took no classes on study skills but consider myself very effective in note-taking and staying organized to ensure smooth studying. After taking several AP classes in high school, I eventually learned how to organize my notes and materials for the tests later on in the class.
Organization is key! I always keep a planner with me.
