About Me

Hi, my name is Hani Zewail and I am a student at Berkeley. The experience of going to school at Cal has made me more of a socially conscious individual than I used to be. I grew up in an wealthy but ignorant neighborhood that lacked consideration for others, and I want to distance myself from that type of thought. I believe I can achieve this through contributing to the education and understanding the people who weren't blessed with material goods.

I ran my own tutoring service back in the 10th grade. I would charge 10 dollars an hour tutoring fellow high school students. SInce a lot of them were my friends I didn't always get paid, but they did well so I was ok with it. One of the friends I worked with was able to flip his algebra and spanish D's to B's. In fact, he elevated himself from a community college standing to getting into Arizona State University.

I strongly believe in the power of positive attitude. If a student thinks he can do something it will only be a matter of time before he does, so the best way I can facilitate that is by working on the issue (problems, essay, etc.) with the student giving him guidelines along the way. Even if they have difficulty with it you let them struggle with the understanding that it isn't their lack of ability but the problem is intended to be difficult.
