About Me
Hello there! My name is Michael Clark. In May of this year, I graduated from Pacific Lutheran University, with degrees in sociology and music. My time at PLU was emotionally and intellectually transformative, and I have since sought employment that will enable me to nurture the skills and abilities I acquired there. I believe myself to be vivacious, confident, and easy to talk to. I have many interests, and enjoy sharing them with others. Above all, I possess a deep passion for learning, and genuinely enjoy giving others reason to feel the same. I especially enjoy working with kids, as I believe in the extraordinary importance of cultivating future generations of leader-learners who may enact change in the world.
A bit about my past tutoring experiences: as a junior in college, I worked as part of the PLU Emerging Leaders Program. As an identified student leader, I partnered with a first-year student in an effort to share -- and hopefully, to transfer -- the experiences, knowledge, and skills that had helped me succeed as a PLU student leader. Together, we brainstormed and executed various ways that he could develop his own individual PLU experience. I found this year-long mentorship to be highly rewarding and fulfilling. Then, as a senior, I worked as the university's sociology and social statistics tutor. In this capacity, I met 1:1 with a diverse population of my peers to better prepare them for coursework and term exams. I tutored in a variety of subjects, including statistics, sociology, and reading/writing comprehension.
My desire to cultivate intellectual growth -- both in myself, and in others -- informs all tutoring and mentoring experiences I undertake. Every tutee is unique; I approach each tutoring partnership with a desire to meet the tutee where he/she is comfortable, and to move ahead at an appropriate pace. Moreover, I
