Fun Facts
I enjoy making up stories, which for me is playing make believe on paper. I like taking walks on warm days and pretending I can fly on the swings at the park. I still watch kids' cartoons. I really like "Phineas and Ferb". :-)
About Me
My name is Elizabeth Hennig. I am currently in my third year at Emory University working on a Liberal Arts degree. I am creating my own concentration on global health care systems while taking the opportunity to explore as much as possible in different fields. I came to Emory from Georgetown, TX, through the Quest Scholar program, which pairs low-income, high-achieving students with thirty of the top colleges in the nation. I am thankful for the unique opportunity to attend school away from home. I would like to help other young people attend college in face of economic and/or personal challenges.
Most of my experience is peer tutoring in high school. I helped other students in lower-level Math classes understand concepts in Algebra. I also helped guide ESOL students through readings in English and History.
My job as a tutor is not to provide the right answers, but to guide others to see the answers themselves. I believe in having students talking out the steps of a Math problem and understanding reading and history through stories. The key to good tutoring is patience, understanding that mistakes happen and ultimately the only failure is giving up.
