Fun Facts
As my strange last name may suggest, I am Russian! I have lived in 3 countries and in over 7 cities! One day, I hope to write a book about all of my multicultural experiences.
Also, I love poetry, chess, contemporary dance, and, of course, Shakespeare!
About Me
I am a senior Philosophy major and an English minor at the University of San Francisco. I have been on the Dean's list for 3 years! I am a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Psi Chi Honor Society (International Honor Society in Psychology)
I am proficient in various styles of writing including: research, analytical, descriptive, expository, creative, and literature reviews for social sciences.
Also, I have a mastery of APA and MLA formats.
Experience
In high school I founded a Students' Mentor club whose members tutored students. I tutored students in reading and writing. During high school, I also tutored advanced learners at the I Love a Lot Preschool a couple of summers. Now that I am graduating college, I am eager to begin working with students again!
Approach
Due to my diverse background, I approach tutoring with a lot of understanding, patience and care. From my experiences, I learned that effort is more important than talent for academic success. So, I always motivate my students because they are the ones who are doing the memorizing and because true learning starts with a genuine wish to learn!

Study Skills Tutoring
Sometimes even quick learners struggle with a subject because they do not have skills necessary to retain the information. Having a 3.87 cumulative GPA and coming from a family of professors, I know a lot of tricks for quick and effective self-learning. I can teach students how to efficiently take notes, create comprehensive tests for oneself, ask good questions, how to stay organized and how to best learn from notecards.
Having been a psychology major for 2 years I can also teach students how to motivate themselves and how to love the subjects that they hate!
I approach study skills from a holistic perspective that values self motivation as much as it does the skills.
