Fun Facts
One fun fact about me is that I am very crafty! I love to crochet, sew, and embroider. My most recent creation was a crochet cat wearing a babushka which i embroidered with French knots. Although I have lived in Chicago all my life, I have relatives in Nebraska and visit them. I know how to assist setting up a DJ, and am hoping to learn how to DJ and dance both cumbia and meringue.
About Me
I am a sophomore currently enrolled in the chicago">University of Illinois at Chicago. I have maintained a 4.0 my entire time at this university. I am a Golden Apple Scholar, so when I graduate with a teaching license for Illinois, I will teach in a school of need for at least five years. My goal is to become a Middle School Math teacher.
Experience
Last summer I worked at the Illinois Math and Science Academy (IMSA) where I helped teach students in math and science during a summer enrichment camp. I also tutor previous math classes in my university for the equivalents of algebra and geometry. I would love the opportunity to reach out to more students who could love math as much as I do!
Approach
In middle school, I was failing math class and needed an outside tutor because the teacher I had was not reaching me. As a tutor I will seek out different methods of learning. I hope to inspire students to follow mathematical standards of practice I have learned about in my methods courses at UIC. Some standards include persevering in solving problems, attending to precision, and thinking abstractly about a problem. I hope to inspire resilient learners of mathematics.

I have taken Arithmetic and Algebraic Structures. This class was designed so that I can learn common errors in middle school algebraic thinking. I will use this to best serve my students.
Math Tutoring
I am pursuing an undergraduate degree in teaching with a concentration in Middle School Math. I have taken several courses that have honed my math skills in general such as Number theory and Intermediate algebra. I will use my content skills to ensure that students excel in math
Middle School Math Tutoring
My whole career is going to be based on middle school math since that is my concentration as an undergraduate student. I have received an A in every college level math course I have taken including intermediate Algebra and Number theory. I am also enrolled in methods courses that instruct how to teach geometry and algebra for understanding.
Pre Algebra Tutoring
I have excelled in every class that involves algebra that i have taken so far. Those classes include Arithmetic Algebraic Structures (A) Algebraic Geometric Structures (A). I am currently learning new Common core methods to enroll in algebra although I have been taught the traditional method of algebra. I am competent in both ways.
Elementary Math Tutoring
I am pursuing a degree in education,with a concentration in middle school math. I have been taught standards for mathematical practice that can be applied to any age. I know what it is like to need that extra push to reach full potential that is in a student. I will quickly bring students up to speed and keep challenging them.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I am a fluent English language speaker and have received an A in every English class I have taken at my university. I will teach students how to use context clues to identify new words and look at several different mediums (poems, short stories, and more) to show how to discern the meaning of the story.
Religion Tutoring
I am a currently a catechist for Our Lady of Mercy Church. I attended St. Robert Bellarmine Elementary school, and have remained active in the Church. I would be very helpful teaching students more about Catholic/Christian religion classes.
Microsoft Excel Tutoring
I am very competent in excel because I know how to make a pattern or equation work for an entire column. I used excel in my Earth and space orientated labs at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where I would use them to make calculations for sets of data. I went on to receive an A in that class (Natural Science 105)
