Fun Facts
I absolutely love to sing and play the fiddle. I have played the fiddle for 16 years and my mom and I play concerts in Irish pubs around Seattle twice a month. I am an avid traveler and spent the fall traveling around South America in Ecuador and Colombia where I worked in the amazon jungle at a wildlife refuge and volunteered at a Hare Krishna community teaching yoga.
About Me
I am a recent graduate of Pitzer College and received a bachelors degree in Sociology and Education. I plan to go back to school and get my masters in education so that I can become a teacher in the near future. I want to get more tutoring experience so that I can attain a breadth of experience working with students and helping them succeed.
Experience
I have ample experience teaching students in a variety of settings. I worked as a tutor in Southern California during all four years of college at CLASP, a program for low income students with learning disabilities. I was also a tutor for Mary's Place, a homeless women and children's shelter in Seattle. Before I become a teacher, I want to help as many students as possible and help them reach all of their goals.
Approach
I tailor my approach to fit the individual needs of the students that I am working with. Every student learns differently and I think it is important to be sensitive to those learning styles and help kids be the best students that they can. Positive reinforcement and continuous support are constants in my approach. I always check in with my students and get their input if my approach is helping them learn in the best way that they can.
