Fun Facts
I have played sports all my life, it's my biggest passion! I was fortunate enough to play a year of college football and it was the most amazing experience. I am the third oldest of ten kids, the oldest is 28 and the youngest is 7. I love to travel and do it every chance I get, although I have yet to go anywhere outside the US besides Mexico. I love singing even though I'm terrible at it and mostly do it when I'm alone in the car or studying.
About Me
I am a sophomore biomedical engineering major on a pre-med track at the University of Texas at Arlington. I am a resident assistant at one of the dorms on campus as well. Once I graduate I plan on attending medical school at Washington, UCSF, Columbia, or Penn in an MSTP program so I can graduate with my MD and PhD degrees and specialize in neurology. My career goal is to do research on neurodegenerative diseases and work with patients as a neurologist. My BME GPA is 3.636.
Experience
As an older sibling in my large family I have had the opportunity to tutor my siblings in essentially every subject from music to math and everything in between. In addition to that, when I was a swim instructor I was able to tutor some of my students as well. At university I help tutor peers in subjects I've already taken as well as help coordinate study sessions with others in my current classes. As an RA I set up study hours with the residents and help them with their classes if needed.
Approach
I understand that no two students are alike or learn the exact same way, and as a tutor I mold my tutoring approach to best suit each student best. I learned best when I had teachers who didn't just teach, but also took an active role in my learning experience and as a tutor I try to bring this same enthusiasm and attitude to my sessions. I not only want to teach them the subject, I want to get them to master it. I also sprinkle in helpful study skills to make them successful in future classes!
