About Me
I am a recent transplant to Denver from Omaha, NE. I graduated in December 2011 with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and am pursuing an Educational Specialist degree in Child, Family, and School Psychology at the denver">University of Denver. I hope to work with high school students and young adults in my future career as a school psychologist. I am especially interested in the transition from high school to post secondary school and careers for education/colorado/denver">special education students.
No specific denver">tutoring experience, but I did provide Applied Behavior Analysis therapy to a young man with Autism for a year in my undergraduate experience. Although this was not specifically denver">tutoring, it did require following a lesson plan, knowing my client, and above all else a lot of patience. I was also the scholarship chair of my sorority in undergrad and am familiar with how to talk to young adults about organization, study skills, and prioritizing. Both of these experiences were highly valuable in gaining denver">tutoring skills.
I am a very hands on learner and that's how I approach denver">tutoring others. I think I am the most successful when I can explain out loud what I am doing and why and would use this in denver">tutoring sessions as well. Knowing the goals of the client is very important as well as having their buy-in to the process.
