Fun Facts
One thing people quickly realize about me is that I am a friendly and very approachable person. I enjoy being around people and leaning from each other. I am also really into sports and I practice soccer almost every weekend. I am the first child in my family to attend college in the United States. At first it was a little of a challenge as I am a French speaker, to adapt to the United culture but now I am getting use to it and i find it really cool.
About Me
I am a junior Computer Engineering major at the City College of New York. I have transferred to City College last semester from City Tech where I spent my freshman year. I have been named Dean List since I started my college studies. I am planning on getting a master degree at the City College of New York before entering the industry world and work for a software design company.
Experience
As an intern at the Brooklyn Educational opportunity center, I had the opportunity to teach students who had to prepare their GED exams. I was able to teach them various subjects including math, science and English. As I had taken all calculus and English classes I was able to help them master the subject and be ready for their exams. I have also taught young children how to speak and write French.
Approach
As an immigrant who came to the United States three years ago without an English background, I had issues to write and speak English fluently. Indeed, I am from Senegal where the main language spoken is French. Then coming to the US to further my education was a big challenge. Fortunately, throughout my integration, I went to ESL schools and found great teacher that helped me a lot with the English language. Therefore, I realized how a great impact tutoring can have.
