Fun Facts

I love language learning. I self-taught myself Spanish in high school and am self-studying Portuguese. I want to learn two more languages to speak a total of 5 languages before age 27.

I come from a BIG family. Although, I'm the youngest of five I'm an uncle to SEVEN so I am a natural born leader and role model.

I want to study abroad in Colombia and travel.

I am a problem-solver, left-brain type, very analytical.

I love reggae, reaggaeton, R&B, Kizomba, hip hop and music from all over.

About Me

I'm an undergraduate civil engineering major with a minor in Spanish literature at the City College of New York (CUNY). After graduation I plan to pursue my Professional Engineer (PE) licensure and a Masters degree in structural engineering. After that, the possibilities are endless. I also want to teach.

Experience

I have tutored Calculus in the Grove School of Engineering since fall 2016. I am also currently an Algebra for All tutor with the CUNY Tutor Corps (the very first cohort). As an Algebra for All tutor, I tutor math, with a special emphasis on Algebra 1, in a NYC Public High School.

Approach

Understanding of Math, Science and Engineering is not hinged on the memorization of formulas. It is neither about speed nor obtaining the answer but your thought process. Students might think that a tutor will magically make them understand. This is not true. Even the best tutor with a 4.0 GPA is useless if the student does not apply his/herself. For that reason, I focus on inculcating better study habits and encourage patience when problem-solving. The best thinkers are seldom the fastest.
