About Me

I am from Corpus Christi, Texas but I spent a lot of time in Austin. I have a BA in English from UT Austin with a specialization in Creative Writing and Editing. I work predominantly in Composition but am comfortable with Literary Theory.

I have done a little work with adult college students doing night classes to improve their English. As such, ESL students - predominately native Spanish speakers - make up the bulk of my clientele. I do a lot of work with advanced vocabulary, English grammar and syntax, but I also have experience directing and focusing research papers in various subjects that are not science or math based (with the exception of Psychology or Archaeology).

I try to keep a personal but professional relationship with my students, understanding that's it's all about them. The trick is to balance their identified weaknesses while acknowledging their strengths. The students are the ones who set the pace and focus, but it's up to me to help direct.
