Fun Facts
What a lot of people do not know about me is that I am an Identical Twin. Although we live in two separate cities, we talk to each other everyday. For the past 2 years I lived in Los Angeles working on my masters degree in Psychology. Although I loved California, Texas is my home and I will always be a Cowboys fan!
About Me
I am currently working on trying to complete the requirements to be able to receive my LPC in the state of Texas, at dallas-baptist-university">Dallas Baptist University. I eventually would like to work with adolescents with in the court and juvenile system. I received my bachelors in Psychology from the University of North Texas and my masters in Psychology from Pepperdine University in California.
Although I do not have direct dallas">tutoring experience, my experience in psychology has introduced me to the concepts and styles of how people learn. I have had some experience in the ABA field working with children along the autistic spectrum. Throughout my middle school I was a part of the PALS program and it allowed me to learn how to communicate with children and adults alike. In college I interned with Collin County Community Advocacy center again allowing me to not only work with children but learn how to be comfortable with parents and people of authority.
I grew up being in the same classes with my identical twin sister. Even though we were identical, we had very different learning styles. My sister was quick to catch on to concepts, however I was not. I learned that I need individual attention, and also needed to come up with my own way of remembering and understanding concepts. With the help of my teachers I was able to develop and be confident in my own way of learning and understanding. As a dallas">tutor, I hope to break down the concepts for the child and bring it to their level of understanding through positive encouragement and letting the child come up with the answers, instead of me giving it to them.
