About Me
I was born in Bethlehem, PA and have lived on the Northeast side of Indianapolis since I was in the first grade. I am now twenty and going to school at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis for my duel license in elementary education and education/indiana/indianapolis">special education. Most people think I'm very quiet when they first meet me, but once they get to know me, they find that I will come out of my shell. I'm pretty open-minded and will try just about anything once. I'm a very hard worker and very loyal. During most of the year I use my free time to do homework and study.
I have experience indianapolis">tutoring a large variety of ages and subjects. I have tutored elementary aged kids from grades Pre-K to 6th and middle school students mostly, but I also have experience indianapolis">tutoring high school students in math. During my last two years of high school I worked in the extended care program at my school and we were required to indianapolis">tutor students as necessary. Sometimes that meant helping kids daily with certain subjects and sometimes it meant simply helping students with their homework as needed. I have tutored high school students in Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and some English (mostly writing). I also spent a summer teaching a fourth grade student how to write in cursive one year when he was transitioning from a public school to a private school, where he was required to use cursive writing.
When it comes to indianapolis">tutoring, my approaches change based on each student. All students learn differently so I indianapolis">tutor based on what works for each student. It also depends on the subject. For math, I usually begin by simply explaining the concept and then helping the student work through it to make sure they really understand the concept, and I usually use a lot of examples. As I go, it is usually easy to figure out how to explain things so that it makes sense to each student. I also think it is important that students don't feel like indianapolis">tutoring is something to be ashamed of. It does not have to be boring or
