About Me
I am a recent college graduate, having graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and with departmental honors from Barnard College of maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">columbia-university">maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia University as an ethnomusicology major. Through my studies, I have gained a strong academic background in general liberal arts. I completed an ethnomusicology thesis, for which I received departmental distinction. Besides gaining extensive knowledge in my area of academic expertise (music, research, and writing), I have taken advanced classes in mathematics and science.
I spent the past year working as the senior paralegal for a boutique law firm, but I would now like to move on to a work opportunity where I would be able to incorporate my knowledge and academic background while helping students build and strengthen their own skills.
I served as a queens">tutor in Calculus I and II for Barnard College students. I also have experience working in an astrophysics lab.
I have taught violin performance privately for about 6 years.
I was the 'student leader' of the maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia Klezmer Band, a group of 10-15 students. I taught them music, coached them on how to play in an ensemble, and explained music theory concepts to them.
My experience as a Calculus queens">tutor and music teacher helped me gain a more fine-tuned idea of how to explain concepts to a student clearly, often in a fashion tailored to the specific student.
