My wife and I climbed a volcano in Guatemala in June and we were lucky enough to watch it erupt twice.

We recently adopted a puppy!

About Me

While not a native, I consider myself a Colorado 'transplant' having lived and worked in Colorado since 1989. I graduated with a BA in English and History from the boulder">University of Colorado, Boulder and am currently enrolled in a graduate program with Western State Colorado University earning my masters in Education. My wife and I enjoy all the great outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer - we love to go hiking and camping in the summer and ski and snowshoe in the winter.

I have a broad range of volunteer denver">tutoring experience with a wide variety of students. I currently work with high school students in a variety of subjects at West High School's credit recovery program run by Colorado Youth for Change. Additionally, I have worked with middle school students with the I HAVE A DREAM FOUNDATION OF BOULDER COUNTY as well as working one-on-one with English language learners through Intercambio de Communidades. This year I am pursuing my licensure through Western State University and will be student teaching within the English department at West High School.

I believe that all students can and should find success in school. As a denver">tutor, I believe my role is to foster student learning and aid in student growth. This can take many forms as each student has different needs : it could mean utilizing alternative teaching strategies to aid in student comprehension, it could take the form of homework assistance, or it could be as simple as helping maintain focus while studying. A denver">tutor is in a unique position to work one-on-one with students at their own speed. For me, the most rewarding part of working with students is seeing them reach an 'aha' moment when lessons lead to understanding - as a denver">tutor, and as a teacher, my goal is to take learning from a chore and transform it into an exciting process of discovery and self-growth.
