Fun Facts
I am a mother and a wife who loves to cook and entertain. At least once a month, my family and I will host a large dinner party. I also love to travel. At any given time, you will find me looking up a new recipe or a new place to travel to.
About Me
I graduated from Northwestern University with a double major in Human Communication Sciences and Communication Studies, and a double minor in History and Pre-Medicine. After school, I worked in pharmaceutical sales for years, educating physicians and medical staff on the clinical benefits, mechanisms of action, prescription, and studies surrounding my products.
Experience
Throughout college and high school, I worked / volunteered as a tutor. A few years ago, after briefly working as a middle school science teacher for a charter school in Gary, IN, I began working as a private tutor. Over the last four and a half years, I have worked predominantly with middle school and high school children tutoring subjects in math and science.
Approach
As a tutor, I first want to understand how each student learns. From there, I like to create a simple process that will enable to the student to systematically identify and solve the problems at hand. I don't give answers; rather, I continue to reinforce concepts by asking questions and allowing the student to verbalize the process and why it applies to the problem at hand. Having worked with a variety of student learning styles, I believe all children can learn, with positive reinforcement.

Algebra Tutoring
I have tutored students in Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Algebra 2 for the past 3 years. In high school, I excelled at math earning A's in all my honors math courses. In college, I took math course up to through Calculus 2.

Biology Tutoring
I have tutored and taught biology in the past. I took college level biology, and passed with a B+ all three trimesters. I am comfortable with all the terms and concepts, and can easily help your student excel.
Chemistry Tutoring
I am currently tutoring students in general high school chemistry and AP chemistry. I took chemistry through high school, and continued into general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry in college. I can help students conceptualize the building blocks of our world - atoms, atomic structures, atomic theory, reactions, etc.
English Tutoring
I have a second degree in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Rhetoric. This has allowed me to help students effectively convey their thoughts, feelings, positions and arguments through effective essay writing for the past 4 years. I also have experience helping students effectively break down and analyze assigned reading, and responding to essay questions effectively.
