Fun Facts

I am a vegetarian ukulele player who loves to sing and harmonize. I've been a choir boy ever since I was a wee lass and have graduated onto form a barbershop quartet both in high school and in college. If you're the type to enjoy corny calculus jokes and silly science puns then we'll have no problem integrating.

About Me

I am an early graduate from NYU School of Engineering with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Applied Physics including a minor in Nuclear Science as well as a GPA of 3.45. I'm taking a year to gain experience working and hopefully find a company that would help me finance my graduate degree. Another goal I hope to accomplish is passing all the SOA actuarial exams.

Experience

Since the start of high school I've been tutoring peers and underclassmen helping them perform well on regents, SAT's, and AP exams. At the start of college I've worked as an instructor at the Park Slope Mathnasium and at the Mathematics department at NYU, teaching elementary-college level mathematics to students both in group sessions and privately.

Approach

I find certain methods of teaching don’t foster understanding that allows students to use the material to their benefit. Mathematics to me, is a visceral experience. It’s a journey one takes to understand, investigate, and, in many ways, be inspired. Some fear the subject, and I’m here to convince them that the material is nothing to be afraid of. I will teach students to ask the right questions and paint an image in their mind to truly grasp what is happening and how they can use it.

Calculus I Tutoring

I earned a 5 on the AP Calculus BC and skipped PreCalc, Calc 1, and Calc 2, with the credit as well as a good score on the math diagnostic exam. I have tutored many classes on subjects in differential, integrable, as well as multivariate Calculus.

Calculus 2 Tutoring

I earned a 5 on the AP Calculus BC and skipped PreCalc, Calc 1, and Calc 2, with the credit as well as a good score on the math diagnostic exam. I have tutored many classes on subjects in differential, integrable, as well as multivariate Calculus.

Calculus 3 Tutoring

Multivariables Calculus is my favorite course to teach. I was hired by the Mathematics department at my college to tutor the subject and have done so for 3 years. I integrate visual representations of stokes and divergence theorems in my explanations and provide many applications of vector field functions and the measurements of curl and divergence acting on them.

Math Tutoring

In my freshman year I took a course called the Art of Mathematics which was an interesting and thought provoking course. It was also a subject I later had to tutor in the department where I worked. Although it was challenging, explaining the material is what I've done and is how I maintain a keen eye for the material.
