Fun Facts

Although a seemingly scientific mind on paper, my passions range widely. I have a deep love for fashion and music. Some would call me eclectic, as I listen to a wide range of musical artists and dress in funky colors and styles. I collect vinyl records, take up the occasional sewing project, and paint furniture once in a blue moon.

About Me

I am a junior Chemistry major on the pre-med track at New York University, and I plan to apply to medical schools next year. My professional goal is to become a caring physician who takes a simultaneously scientific and holistic approach to treating her patients. I am minoring in Global Public Health right now, and my classes have really shifted the way I think about medicine.

Experience

As a health educator for Peer Health Exchange, I teach health classes for ninth grade students twice a week. In high school, I tutored my classmates in chemistry and taught first aid techniques to both kids in high school and grammar school. Although I do hot have much one-on-one tutoring experience, I have developed the communication skills that allow me to be a good teacher. Additionally, I have a deep passion for math and science that I hope to share with the students I tutor.

Approach

In high school, I was a self-motivated and hardworking student, and that was just what I needed to get the grades I wanted. As I've progressed to more difficult coursework in college, I realized that while good study habits and motivation are vital to good academic performance, it isn't always enough. Working with a tutor allows students to shift their perspective so that they can better understand the topic at hand. I hope to offer my students a fresh perspective on topics they struggle with.

Algebra Tutoring

Algebra in high school came pretty naturally to me, and I am very lucky that it did, because I've use it in nearly every chemistry and math course I've taken in college. It has become almost second-nature to me, as I use it just about every day. I received A's in my high school algebra courses, and went on to study Calculus later in high school and into college. I've used algebra in a wide range of my coursework, including General Chemistry, Physics I and II, Organic Chemistry, Calculus, and Quantum Mechanics

Algebra II Tutoring

Calculus II: A
Very familiar with the subject matter. Taking Quantum Mechanics currently, which requires a lot of calculus.

Chemistry Tutoring

I am a Chemistry major at NYU, so I have completed a lot of coursework in this subject. Completed courses include general chemistry I and II, organic chemistry I and II, and biochemistry I, receiving an A- or higher in all classes. The skills I learned in general chemistry follow me every step of my academic career.

Trigonometry Tutoring

I have used trigonometry in many college courses, including Physics I and II and Calculus I and II, both of which I received an A- or higher in. After applying trigonometric concepts to more advanced coursework, I have a really solid understanding of trigonometry. I also received an A in high school Trig.
