Fun Facts
I love reading, watching movies, cooking and traveling. I used to be an avid athlete -- soccer, track and lacrosse in high school and rugby in college -- and am now picking up golf, which while easy on the body is much much harder to master. I speak Italian fluently and am getting closer to fluency in Spanish.
About Me
I am the second son of immigrants from Naples, Italy who became professors at Yale, so my upbringing was both rigorously academic and devotedly Italian. I went to Georgetown University for undergraduate, where I double majored in Government and History (GPA: 3.33), and later got my masters in Dramatic Writing at NYU Tisch (GPA: 3.95). I am currently in Los Angeles, pursuing my dream to become a filmmaker, and am getting married to the love of my life, a young woman from Bolivia, in the winter.
Experience
I tutored at the Huntington Learning Center in Washington D.C. while in college, and also helped family friends prepare for the SAT and college applications. While I don't have exhaustive experience, I believe my background as an athlete, professional ability as a writer and training in graduate school, set in an intimate, workshop environment, gives me the skills and temperament to meet students' needs and help them do their best work.
Approach
1. Get to know the student and form a rapport. Establish trust and tell them your story, its ups and downs, to give them confidence.
2. Diagnose the student's strengths and weaknesses.
3. Develop a study plan and compartmentalize.
4. Start with weaknesses and recurring problems first. Revise student's strategies and teach new skills with patience, focus, and an easygoing, constructive and reassuring manner.
5. Defuse anxiety with humor and gentle coaching.

As someone who never had a tutor or homework coach while in school, I had to essentially self-tutor and design my own study plans. I became very adept at solving my academic challenges by compartmentalizing, identifying each problem and breaking them down into individual tasks, which I then isolated and solved. I coached neighbors and family friends on their homework in high school, and also helped kids after school while working for the Huntington Learning Center in Washington D.C. while I attended Georgetown.
