Fun Facts
I love chocolate and trying new foods. I also like to travel. One of my goals is to travel at least once a year. I believe traveling is one of the best ways to learn about another country's culture, and I enjoy this.
About Me
I am a graduate student working towards my teacher certification, and I am certified as a Teacher Assistant. I worked at a pre-school as a T.A. Although it was a challenge for me because it was my first working with special needs students, I truly enjoyed it because it gave me great satisfaction to see their bright faces and smiles when they learned something new I believe every child has the ability to learn NO MATTER WHAT!
I recently tutored for about six weeks as a reading couch for the Reading Partners program. I was able to work one-on-one with a students to help him with reading-comprehension/new-york/queens">reading comprehension skills. I also had the opportunity to work 1:1 and in small groups with the pre-k class. When I worked 1:1 with a student I worked on their IEP schools, and reviewed literacy and math skills during small group activities.
As a queens">tutor I like to get to know the student, find out about the student's interests and likes. I also try to make the learning experience fun. I am flexible and firm; I take into consideration what the student wants to do, but without forgetting the student' learning experience and setting high standards. I believe is important to keep an open communication with the parents, not only to inform the parent about the child's progress, but also because parents can be a great support system for the child.
