About Me
I am a senior, biology major, pre-medical track, and math minor at Saint Louis University. I have been on the Dean's List since my freshmen year. I got recently inducted to Alpha Sigma Nu, which is a Honors Society between Jesuit universities. My future goal is to get into MD/PhD program and ultimately become research and clinical physician)
Experience
I began with volunteering in Elementary School, where I taught chess for the elementary school kids for the school chess club.During my sophomore year, I was one-on-one tutor for SLU students. I tutored for chemistry, biology, and mathematics. My junior year, I was a TA for physics laboratories and giving lectures about the lab. I really enjoyed those experiences because they gave me the opportunity to strengthen my knowledge, develop tutoring skills, and enjoy the process of helping others.
Approach
Through my tutoring experiences, I learned that giving out the answers to the students is not good approach. Instead, tutor should encourage students to work on their own, but tutor first have to provide with good theory background in order to approach the practical problems. During the tutoring session, it is my responsibility to keep the environment positive, provide theory, and help with study skills that will help students with their classes))
