I used to be a culinary artist. I am passionate about empowering underserved communities through a pot, pan, knife and fork. I am currently a medical school student with the aspirations of becoming a surgeon.
About Me
My name is James, a Stanford University Alumni and current second-year medical student at the University of Pennsylvania (Perelman). At Stanford, I majored in Mathematics, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. Initially, I was torn between pursuing a career in Financial Applications or Public Health. Well, I choose neither (take that Wall Street!) and decided to become a Physician to help the underserved. During some of my courses, I vividly remember being referred to as the “Calculus God".
Experience
I tutored students at Stanford, Hunter College, Lehman College and underserved high school students at Philadelphia. I have tutored Organic Chemistry, Trigonometry, Physics, Biology, Biochemistry, Algebra, Pre-calculus, Calculus, Writing skills, Statistics, Reading, Basketball and Futbol de Americano (Football) and Soccer. I’ve tutored clients of all ages, of all backgrounds - a potpourri of demographics :).
Approach
I'm a firm believe of habit and perseverance, qualities I hope to instill in you throughout our sessions. I have yet to meet someone who I did not believe was capable of succeeding in their endeavors. However, I have met some that have given up. Whether mental or physical, succumbing to failure is not an option. Being able to endure the mental and physical exhaustion is a lifelong trait. My sessions teach others how to endure. Thriving under mental and physical fatigue can be rewarding endeavor.
