Fun Facts

I moved to Detroit in January of 2011 and I do not think I ever want to leave. I plan on centering my career around the city of Detroit and its continuing redevelopment. In my free time I enjoy reading, playing soccer for the Eastern Market Football Club, and going to many of the wonderful concerts and events that are happening almost every day in Detroit.

About Me

I am in my senior year at wayne-state-university">Wayne State University pursuing a B.A. in English Literature. I will be graduating with Departmental and University Honors. After I graduate I plan on continuing on to graduate school somewhere in the Southeast Michigan area, and to eventually obtain a PhD and hopefully get a job as a professor in either English, Urban Studies, or History at Wayne State.

Throughout my career as a student, from grade school through the present, I have enjoyed helping others absorb information. In high school I led the greenhouse portion of my Agriscience class for two years, teaching important concepts to my peers while the teacher ran the floral department. In college I have helped many of my friends successfully study for tests and edited numerous papers for friends and classmates.

I believe that I am skilled at communicating concepts in different ways so that they can be best understood by each unique audience. I alter my approach based on who I am talking to, because I have learned that there is no use trying to force information at someone if they are not processing it correctly. I am very patient, and have a strong desire to completely and correctly share information that I find interesting with those around me.
