Fun Facts
I've been an avid WWE fan since I was about 7 years old and a huge Linkin Park fan since around the same age. I studied abroad in Fall 2012 in Leuven, Belgium, where I interned for the European Union and took classes on European Law, arts/culture, EU history, and comparative European politics. Since then, I've been wanting to live a life of traveling and learning new experiences. I hope to someday go back, possibly teaching abroad for a period of time.
About Me
I have a strong passion for learning, and I love to share my knowledge with others while learning new things simultaneously. I originally was on a medical school tract, but I decided I would probably be happier teaching and sharing my experiences. I love to learn just about anything that's anything. This includes Latin, Spanish, Italian, calculus, theoretical astrophysics, philosophy, sociology, etc. Because of this, I love to read (primarily non-fiction) and just understand how the world operates at a fundamental level. This is partly why I have two majors and three minors, while starting an accelerated master's degree program in one of those minors (economics).
I have served as a math chicago">tutor for troubled kids on probation through the Safer Foundation. It was a class of about 22, and I taught new methods of approaching problems while also giving individuals personal attention. I also was a general chicago">tutor in high school as a part of the National Honor Society. I helped students with math, biology, chemistry, and Spanish. In addition, I informally tutored AP and college general chemistry.
I have multiple approaches of chicago">tutoring depending on the individual. For someone completely lost and just does not understand the material, I take a teaching approach, where I personally teach the material myself and assign practice problems that correspond to the material being taught. I am not heavy on memorization, but rather practice and application. Because of this, I will also make sure the student does not lose sight as to why the material is important, meaning I will explain how and why the subject is useful in the real world. I find that this keeps and might even gauge interest, making the learning environment much easier.
For those who just have a few questions, but understand most of the material. I can easily answer the questions in a teacher-like manner and I will continuously drill the concept until the student fully understands it.
