Fun Facts
I was born in northern California and grew up in Southern Oregon. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology and a bachelor's degree in chemistry. I recently earned my master's degree in Materials Science Engineering. I am a bit of a math and science nerd. I volunteer in a chemistry research lab. I perform with an improv group in Salem, Oregon, and I am drummer. I LOVE chemistry and math and can talk for a very long time about if given the chance.
About Me
In 2019, I earned a Master's of Materials Science Engineering at Portland State University. I have worked as a lab teaching assistant and a research assistant in the last two years. I look forward to working in the materials science industry, particularly with electronics. My long term career goal is to become a college professor. I was in the Marines for four years...a long time ago!!!
Experience
I tutored for over two years at a community college in Salem, Oregon. During that time I tutored a multitude of subjects, including general and organic chemistry, calculus, algebra, pre-algebra, statistics, anatomy and physiology, all levels of writing, and first year biology. My particular skills and interests are physical chemistry and calculus.
Approach
I am a fun and easygoing guy. I bring a degree of that into each tutoring session. Learning can be a lot of fun, but with exams and deadlines, it can be extremely stressful. There is no need to make the tutoring experience stressful, so I encourage humor and a fun attitude. Even the most complex problems can be simplified to the guiding fundamentals of math and science. Once a student learns how to find that simplicity in each problem, the "scariness" of the subject is replaced with confidence.
