Fun Facts
I am 22 and from Minneapolis and moved to washington-dc">Washington DC three weeks ago, previously I was teaching English (to elementary school children) in South Korea for six months. I love traveling and have been able to see many different counties because I lived in South Korea and previously in Germany (I went to university in Germany for one year).
About Me
I graduated from Northern Michigan University (NMU), a small, public liberal arts college with a double major in international studies and German studies and I am currently a master's student at American University at the School of International Service in their Peace and Conflict Resolution Program.
I graduated magna cum laude and was accepted to and completed the honors program at NMU, therefore I know the importance of education.
Though I do not have washington-dc">tutoring experience I just came back from South Korea where I was an English teacher at a public elementary school. I co-taught, with Korean teachers and solo taught, Kindergarten through 6th grade. I am excited to start washington-dc">tutoring so I can give students individualized attention, something that was not always possible in a classroom setting.
I would like tailor my approach to meet the needs of the student and the student’s learning style. If the student is a visual learn perhaps flashcards with pictures would be more helpful, however if the student is a more auditory learner than videos can be incorporated into the lesson. As long as the students are thinking and doing things for themselves that’s a success.
