Fun Facts

Once we begin talking about European soccer, I can go on endlessly. I absolutely love watching and playing the sport. This passion has led me to dream of one day traveling to Madrid. I enjoy board games ranging from connect four, to puzzles, to Jenga. I have a small collection of blu-ray movies that I wish to one day extend with amazing box office hits.

About Me

I am a senior Mathematics major at the University of Southern California (USC). When I graduate, I will obtain my teaching credentials to begin teaching as soon as possible. Shortly after, I plan to enroll in a Masters in Education, followed by a Masters in Mathematics. My goals are to become a high school calculus teacher and a community college calculus professor.

Experience

I have five years of tutoring experience for a college preparatory high school program, NAI. I tutor high school students three days a week in addition to leading ten Saturday Academy math classes. I lecture from James Stewart's Essential Calculus and prepare students for AP Calculus AB exam. Although my strengths are in high school math, I have voluntarily taught numerous elementary students through Troy Camp (USC Student Org) and friend recommendations.

Approach

I never struggled with math in K-12, but once I entered USC, I was academically unprepared. I quickly realized I was taught procedural thinking and not critical thinking. While some students may find regurgitating formulas easy, my approach is to create critical thinkers through sound mathematical argumentation and proper use of tools. I will reassure the students' confidence through positive reenforcement and create a safe space for students to ask any questions.
