Fun Facts
When I'm not working with students, you can find me at any concert with some good food, usually tacos. Music is my passion, whether it's a big named artist or a local live band, I'm there bopping along to the beat!
About Me
I am a Special Education teacher at Steiner Ranch Elementary. I work with students with varying disabilities, but my area of focus is with students with Autism or other communication / behavior deficits. My degrees are from The University of Texas at Austin; my bachelors is in early childhood development and my masters is in early childhood special education with a specialization in Autism. I have a dual general and special education Texas teaching degree.
Experience
As an Education major, I had many tutoring experiences at the elementary level! I tutored in reading, writing, and math, and worked frequently with English-Second language learners. While obtaining my masters, I had an internship where I worked as a Behavior Specialist at a ABA therapy company for children with Autism!
Approach
As a child, I had my own struggles with school. While I loved the school environment, learning didn't come easy to me, test taking was my worst nightmare, and my confidence lessened each year. I had many teachers who inspired me to lead the path that I took, but helping other kids see the light at the end of their own tunnel was my main inspiration. Learning is not one size fits all - it' should be a custom fitting to adhere to each unique needs :)
