Fun Facts
I love video games, but don't play much because I have a son. I lived in Taiwan for eight years. I am originally from the south suburbs of Chicago, but moved to Tennessee when I was about ten.
About Me
I completed a Bachelor's in Computer Science from Tennessee Technological University. I completed the coursework for a Master's in Computer Science at Pennsylvania State University with a GPA of 3.8. I plan to get my Illinois teaching certification to teach math.
Experience
I am currently an aide in the math department at York Community High School in Elmhurst, Illinois.
I have four years of professional tutoring experience, primarily in math, at every level from arithmetic to Calculus. I have also tutored chemistry and computer science. My tutoring was primarily at the college level. In addition, I taught English as a Foreign Language to elementary school students for eight years in Taiwan.
Approach
I use the Socratic method of asking leading questions, getting the students to connect what they already know to learn something new. The goal is always independence-giving the students the ability to do as much as possible by themselves.
