Fun Facts
One fact people learn about me quickly is I am a piano-lover. I have passions in music, art and literature even if I am a PhD student in industrial engineering. I enjoy playing music with my friends at weekends, especially classical music of Chopin and Schubert. I also like classical literature such as novels of Charles Dickens and Turgenev, which bring me back to the old times deep in history.
About Me
I am a second-year PhD student in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering in the University of Texas at Austin (GPA=3.74). Before I came to UT, I got my master degree in Operations Research and Supply Chain Management in Case Western Reserve University in 2015 (GPA=3.8). I got my bachelor degree in Logistics Management in Shanghai Jiao Tong University in Shanghai, China in 2013 (GPA=3.97). My ultimate goal is to become a professor after I get Doctorate degree.
Experience
When I was a master student, I worked as a teaching assistant for 3 semesters. My job was to answer students' questions during office hour and help them with homework problems. When I was an undergraduate, I worked as an English Tutor for 2 years. My students were kids between 9 and 12 years old. I enjoy teaching, because it provides me with an opportunity to share my knowledge with others and impact more lives of students that need help.
Approach
When I was in elementary school, I wasn't good at math. However, I was very fortunate to meet a math teacher when I was in middle school. She not only taught me bony math theories, but also showed me how to find the regulations behind the theories. She was patient and mild, and aroused my interest in math. As a tutor, I will devote my passions and love to students. I believe it is more important to teach students the ability to learn and make them love the subject than to give them answers.
