Fun Facts

I enjoy watching (or should I say reading) Chinese and Korean television series and movies. I am captivated by the rich culture, and at the same time, the fatal rivalries that develop among princes. One thing that really fascinates me is the calligraphy. Perhaps one day in the near future I will learn this.

About Me

I am Jamaican by birth, and have been a teacher since I was 19 years old. I see teaching as my calling, and therefore my love for it grows each day. I am a graduate of the prestigious University of the West Indies, as well as Virginia Commonwealth University. I am also a published author, and enjoys writing both as a passion and a source of healing.

Experience

I have 16 years in education from middle to the tertiary level. I completed my teaching studies in Jamaica, and spent 7 years teaching and preparing students for the Caribbean regional examinations. I spent 5 years in Prince William County Schools, one of those years was spent at Godwin Middle School, preparing students for the SOL examinations. I spent the next 4 years a CD Hylton High School. I have since been teaching at Chavez Schools for Public Policy, Capitol Hill Campus.

Approach

I believe all students can learn, and all students will learn. I believe students learn by discovery, and become more invested when they are very active in their learning process. I believe in knowing my students' learning styles, and making sure they are aware of that as well. My students know their strengths and recognize their weaknesses, and thus work to improve them.
