Fun Facts
Aside from work and school, I love to travel and have been fortunate to visit France, Spain, Japan, Mexico, and Costa Rica in the past five years. I love learning new languages and would like to learn Chinese in the near future. I am from a small town in southern California and was raised in a Spanish and English speaking household. In my free time I like to explore new places and meet new people. I also enjoy running and have participated in a couple half-marathons.
About Me
I am a rising senior majoring in accounting at San Francisco State University and I have been on the Dean's List for the past three years. I have studied Japanese for seven years and have passed the N2 Japanese Language Proficiency Test, the proficiency required to work in Japan, two years ago. I was raised speaking Spanish at home and with relatives, and have passed the AP Spanish Language exam with a score of 5/5. When I graduate, my goal is to become a Certified Public Accountant.
Experience
In my accounting classes at San Francisco State University, I have always been the person that people come to for help with homework and studying for exams. I have expertise in financial, managerial, and tax accounting. Last year I taught weekly Spanish lessons in both Japanese and English to domestic and international students at SFSU. I have experience using Japanese in a work environment. I also have experience tutoring international students at SFSU to prepare for the TOEFL exam.
Approach
I know how hard it can be to learn accounting concepts or a new foreign language - especially Japanese. As a tutor, I bring a passionate, patient, and encouraging attitude to my lessons so that students feel confident and enjoy learning new material. Rather than simply giving away answers, I work with students so that they completely understand the content they are studying. Through the use of examples, media, and dialogue, I create lessons that are fun and help students retain what they learn.

Accounting
Accounting Tutoring
I have taken college-level courses in Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Financial Accounting, and Tax Accounting. I have received As in every accounting class I have taken and have a strong interest in the subject. I have tutored fellow classmates for the past two years and have some work-related experience with accounting.
Japanese Tutoring
Throughout middle school and high school I attended Japanese language school every Saturday. At San Francisco State University I have taken advanced reading, comprehension, and conversation courses in Japanese and received As in every course. I have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test at the N2 level, which is equivalent to the proficiency required to work in Japan. I also have experience using Japanese in a work environment.
