Fun Facts
I am a passionate golfer, when I have free time from school. I have worked in the golf industry for the last 7 years, trying to help get me through college. I have lived in Colorado my entire life, and love everything the state has to offer ( during the summer). I never got into snowboarding or skiing when I was little, I was too busy with football or baseball. I played those up until high-school, when an injury turned me to golf and it was a blessing in disguise!
About Me
I am a Junior attending the Electrical Engineering Technology school at MSU Denver. I plan on getting into the field of power distribution when I graduate in the spring of 2019. I currently work at the Inverness Golf Club in south Denver, and I also do several things in the South Suburban district, including teaching youth clinics, supervising fields for youth and adult games, and have recently gotten into being a youth referee.
Experience
During my senior year in high-school and the first 2 years in college I would tutor a group of students through family and friends.My number has been passed family to family, and I have tutored on and off since 2013. While I was in school, I had a tutor that put me on a path to success in school, and I haven't strayed since. Hopefully by being acquainted with Frog Tutoring services, I can help more students to find their path.
Approach
As I went through the school system, I found that teachers were more interested in my memory of equations than my usage or implementations of them. When I found an issue with the implementations, I took it as "I'm not smart enough". My goal as a tutor is to get the thought of "you are smart enough, you can do this" through the students head. Confidence is the first step in being a successful student, and hopefully I can turn school from "another dreaded day" to a hopeful opportunity.

Algebra Tutoring
Algebra is the first of many tools that will be thrown at students down their math career. A lot of the times, struggles can arise because tools that were supposed to have been formed in earlier classes, haven't been formed. I can help identify the issue, and lay out a plan of attack to conceptualize and understand the subject. I have worked all the way through calculus 3 in college, and have tutored several students with classes leading up to calculus 2. I have a very solid algebra base, and I would love the opportunity to help you build yours.

This course is a tool builder that will be essential down the road, and so having a strong foundation here will help immensely. I can help identify the issue, and lay out a plan of attack to conceptualize and understand the subject, and help build the tools to be utilized down the road. I have worked all the way through calculus 3 in college, and have tutored several students with classes leading up to calculus 2. I have a very solid algebra base, and I would love the opportunity to help you build yours.
Middle School Math Tutoring
Math at this stage of education is setting some really solid tools that will be utilized later in their math career. I understand the necessary attributes that will help make incoming math a little easier. Math is just a series of tools that you build, put onto your math tool belt, and use next year in your new class. I can help you build a solid foundation of math tools, so when upcoming classes ask for these tools, you already have them. Math is a giant mountain, and we cant move mountains all at once. We have to go one rock at a time, be patient, and we can all move mountains.
Study Skills Tutoring
Study skills start with organization, and working with me, that will be the first thing we work on. Although it may seem unrelated, the organization of your backpack can either make or break your semester, and I'd love to help get organized first. Study skills, from flash cards to games, there is a lot of ways to get information to stick in somebodies head. Stories are the most effective way for memory to stick, because they create an emotion, and that emotion will be linked to the memory like a chain. There are little things that have made me successful in my educational career, and I would love to share them with you!
Homework Coach Tutoring
Being good at homework is really just a test of accountability as a student. That starts with being accountable in the classroom, making notes in your planner that there is an assignment for the night, and following up on the notes that were made. So really it's a 4 step process. As a tutor, I would love to help with your accountability, with a series of games and tasks that make us accountable to eachother. It can be hard as a student to conceptualize school work away from school, but it's just a reassurance that they're learning what they need to be successful in high-school. Building a solid homework agenda builds a habit that will carry over to high school, which will help you get into a sweet college. Its hard to look down the road. but I can help the student get there.
